Definition

A polygon mesh is a way of representing a 3D object as a network of flat shapes, usually triangles, joined together to form its surface. These connected polygons approximate the shape of an object, creating a continuous, solid-looking surface.

Unlike a point cloud, which is just a set of separate points, a mesh links points into faces, giving a defined surface that can be shaded, textured, and rendered realistically. Meshes are a standard form of 3D geometry.

How It Works
